Landlords of residential
properties that are to be let are now required to make an Energy
Performance Certificate (EPC) available to any prospective tenants.
Why
do I need one?
Government are introducing
a number of measures to make all buildings more efficient. The
measures are being applied across all European Union countries
and are in line with the European Directive for the Energy Performance
of Buildings (EPBD).
One of the most significant
measures is the introduction of Energy Performance Certificates
(EPC).
For properties that
require an EPC and do not have one there is currently a fine of
£200.
What
is an EPC?
An EPC gives an assessment
of the current and possible energy performance and environmental
impact of the property. It provides pointers as to how the energy
performance of the property could be improved. It should be of
interest to landlords, sellers and prospective tenants and purchasers
alike.
What
can I expect?
You can expect to hear
from one of our fully trained, accredited and insured energy assessors
within 48 hours of placing your order. They will arrange with
you (or your letting agent) a convenient time to visit the property
in order to conduct the energy assessment.
We can normally supply
the finished certificate (EPC) within 24 hours of the visit to
the property.
